Golden Visa in UAE: Golden visa for nurses
Dubai: Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defence of the UAE, has ordered that golden visas be granted to nursing personnel working with Dubai Health for over 15 years.
The choice reflects an acknowledgment of their significant contributions to the community and their essential role in improving the standard of healthcare services.
This announcement aligns with International Nurses Day, celebrated every year on May 12, highlighting the leadership's continuous dedication to backing healthcare workers and creating a setting that enables them to keep serving the community.
The Golden Visa is a residency permit for the long term that allows foreign professionals to reside, work, or study in the UAE while enjoying special advantages.
Eligibility scope
Dubai Health has confirmed that over 1,400 nursing staff qualify for this special acknowledgment in gratitude for their lasting contributions to public health.
This indicates that almost one-third of the 4,400 nursing personnel working in hospitals and health centers managed by Dubai Health are eligible for the Golden Visa.
According to its website, Dubai Health operates six hospitals, 26 health centers, and 21 medical fitness facilities, employing a total of 9,411 staff members.
Dubai Health also verified that long-standing midwives are part of those being acknowledged.
Global relevance
On the same day, Monday, the UAE, in partnership with the World Health Organisation (WHO), held the regional unveiling of the 2025 State of the World’s Nursing report. The report cautions about a forecasted worldwide deficit of 4.1 million nurses by 2030, with 70% of the lack anticipated to occur in Africa and the Eastern Mediterranean.
Incentives such as the Golden Visa, which permits visa holders to sponsor family members through the UAE's 10-year residency program, can aid in retaining the nursing workforce.
