Dubai Amnesty

In Dubai, 20,000 applications were processed during a one-week period of Amnesty.

ICP reports that 88% of Abu Dhabi applicants wanted to legalize their status, while the remaining applicants opted to leave the UAE.

During the initial week of the Amnesty program in Dubai, the GDRFA processed 19,785 applications from visa violators seeking to either regularize their immigration status or exit the country without facing penalties.

On Monday, the officials stated that almost 99 percent of these requests were handled within 2 days, demonstrating the effectiveness of the online services and staff.

Commencing on September 1 and concluding on October 30, individuals who violate the rules have the option to either legalize their status or depart the country with no penalties, fees, or restrictions.

A continuous flow of amnesty seekers has been coming to the Al Awir Service Center, where 2,393 individuals have been processed, accounting for about 10.15 percent of all applications. To meet this demand, 60 service platforms were set up at the center to speed up processing.

Moreover, 86 Amer centers and different digital platforms handled 17,391 requests for status modifications.

The large number of expats seeking amnesty in the first week highlights the significance of such initiatives in providing a solution for those who have been living in the country illegally. It also reflects the positive response and willingness of the expat community to come forward and rectify their status.

GDRFA has partnered with different international embassies in Dubai as well. Special teams were designated to interact with diverse communities and help individuals of different nationalities with legalizing their residency.

Consulates also played a role in backing this humanitarian effort by arranging informative sessions and offering guidance in various languages to aid people in comprehending the processes and taking advantage of the amnesty.

The UAE authorities have urged all illegal residents to take advantage of the amnesty program and ensure they comply with the regulations to avoid facing legal consequences in the future. The program is set to continue for a limited period, until October 30, providing an opportunity for all illegal expatriates to rectify their status and avoid any further penalties.
